US RaceTronics arrives at this weekend's Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by LaSalle Bank with high expectations.
Thus far both drivers have enjoyed mixed success this season. Both drivers had their season lows at Round #1 in Las Vegas when neither was able to finish the race due to on-track incidents, however Carl Skerlong (#24 King Taco/USRT) achieved a season best finish of second at the Houston Grand Prix while David Garza's (#4 Axtel/Tecate/Madisa/USRT) best finish came at Portland where he garnered a tenth place finish. The team is now looking for both drivers to finish this race in the top-10.
Skerlong, who finds himself sixth in the Championship standings, will once again attempt to disrupt the Sierra Sierra party this weekend and get his first win after coming so close at Houston earlier this year. The 18 year old from Seattle, Washington graduated from Chrysalis School in Woodinville, Washington last week and will now focus his attention on the race at Cleveland.
For Garza, his education in the Champ Car Atlantic series continues. With each race Garza's performance has improved and the results show. In fact, Garza has improved his finishing spots in each of the last 3 races by two positions. With Engineer Peter Jacobs at the helm Garza will certainly look to continue his forward progress and hopefully crack the elusive top-3 podium.
David Garza - "After the result at the second race in Portland I am going to work harder to get my first podium at Cleveland. The team and I have been working hard and learning together and it would be excellent if we could pull it all together at Cleveland and finally get my first podium in the Champ Car Atlantic series"
Carl Skerlong - "I'm excited to be heading to a high-speed race track. We seem to do well with fast circuits. Cleveland's similar in some respects to street racing as it's a temporary layout and we were competitive in April when we raced in Las Vegas, Long Beach and Houston. I think overall we're pretty close to where we want to be. "
